Handmade Linen Throw - Chartreuse
Linen has been part of domestic life for thousands of years. Chartreuse, on the other hand, has never had much interest in behaving itself.
That combination is precisely what we love about this throw.
Handmade from 100% medium-weight linen, our Chartreuse Linen Throw takes one of the world's oldest and most enduring textiles and gives it a decidedly less traditional disposition. The color sits somewhere in that wonderful territory between yellow and green, changing subtly with the light and bringing an unexpected jolt of color to a room without losing the quiet, relaxed character of linen.
Historically, household linens were things people kept. They were washed and softened through years of use, mended rather than discarded, tucked into linen cupboards, included in trousseaus, and sometimes handed from one generation to the next. Good linen was valuable not because it needed to be protected from life, but because it could withstand it.
We like that idea.
At 90" long and 50" wide, this is an unusually generous throw. Stretch it across a bed, drape it over a sofa, use it as an informal table linen, wrap yourself in it on a cool evening, or carry it outside when dinner moves into the garden.
Each throw is individually handmade and pre-washed, so the linen arrives already relaxed rather than stiff or precious. Its natural weave, softened surface and subtle irregularities remain visible, and the edges are frayed by hand for an easy, imperfect finish.
And then there is that color.
Chartreuse has a remarkable way of waking up everything around it. Put it with old wood, white linen, black leather, concrete, faded upholstery or something completely unexpected. It doesn't need the room to match.
It may be better if it doesn't.
